Support For Parents and Communities--I believe successful administrative leadership bridges the gap between school and home. This means teachers and other educational leaders must work cohesively with parents and the greater community. The common goal must be to provide a safe and positive environment inside and outside of the school for children to grow up in and develop academically.

Invest In Our Future, Not Standardized Tests--Tests are a necessity and can be a credible tool to measure academic gains. However standardized testing has become a sidetrack to the greater purpose of education. I believe the better option is in strengthening our curriculum, investing in teacher preparation programs, and allowing more autonomy to trained educators capable of teaching effectively. In order to stay competitive with other OECD nations, we must abandon our archaic factory model approach to education for a competitive model ready for a globalized market. As a leader, I believe this is possible if we truly invest time, money, and energy into our teachers and students.

Demonstrate Strong Democratic Leadership--I believe that today’s principal must be an effective leader capable of demonstrating creativity, intelligence, and the skills to democratically manage a school in the 21st century.

Professional Development

Through being committed to achieving specific and challenging goals, making self reflections, and using every opportunity to learn, I will continue to develop professionally. I will also utilize the materials provided to me by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
